Business Computer Consultant
| | September, 1987 was a major turning point for me. At 26, I became a freelance consultant -- overnight.
Since then I have introduced businesses and individuals to their first computer systems, provided upgrades, customization, instruction and maintenance; from simple RAM upgrades to full automation of daily business tasks, reporting and statistical analysis.
My primary interest -- with regard to business consulting -- as well as my hobby, has been database management, providing seamless data integration between various software programs.
After all the "experts" are done "fixing" your computer, but before you go for the sledge-hammer --

Although some people are genuinely well- intentioned, they tend to believe that they know more than they actually do when it comes to troubleshooting an MS Windows operating system issue. Microsoft planned it that way, requiring multiple contacts with their technical support department while building their enormous wealth by charging by the minute. Through the years, I have been fortunate enough to work with many different types of businesses, each with their own unique issues, while getting an awesome education at the same time -- turning issues into solutions. There isn't much that I have not seen with regards to Microsoft software glitches, bugs and quirks. Thankfully, I have gotten through approximately 99% of the dragons I have been called to slay, resulting in relieved, satisfied clients, forming lasting relationships.
In recent years, I've expanded my focus to include Linux and MacIntosh... Look out Microsoft! UNIX is in the house! And it's not going anywhere.

| | After 4 years at The Irvine Company in Newport Beach, California as the Computer Operator/Systems Administrator for Community Cablevision Company, I decided to go out on my own. With all of the contacts I had made working at TIC, I knew I had a good start. I decided to call my business, quite simply,
The PC Consultant
Not to seem too egocentric, I placed the emphasis on "The". Next, I acquired the necessary reseller permit and began to sell Personal Computer systems. At that time, it was profitable -- until everyone else (and their brother) got into sales. The profit margin slowly shrank to negative numbers, so I decided to just go with "Service with a Smile", which is what I do today, once every blue moon or so, for the price of a good meal and/or good conversation, or some other form of barter ;-) My main focus now is mainly on upgrades, maintenance, and software instruction; from beginner through advanced. With Microsoft around, there are plenty of problems created just waiting for my solutions.
Customer Testimonials From a top manager for an international sports shoe/apparel/equipment company: "Scott Price came to us when we were transitioning from an IBM mainframe system to a SAP-based supply-chain system. Right away, he mastered both systems, and single-handedly automated reporting for our department, saving hundreds of man-hours. He also provided professional end-user support to everyone in our department. He was an extremely valuable asset to our organization." From a top manager at a national retail supermarket chain: "When Scott Price started with our Property Management department, we were stuck with an archaic database system that was extremely limited as far as reporting and database management. Scott immediately bridged the gap between Timberline software and Microsoft, allowing us unlimited potential for reports, correspondence, and tracking new tenants. He also created one-click reporting for key management personnel, saving us valuable time and energy. Mr. Price is sorely missed today."
